Los lectores mexicanos sabemos que los textos de Carlos Monsiváis han sido, durante los últimos 50 años, el referente necesario para conocer, apreciar y evaluar los acontecimientos más relevantes de la cultura mexicana en el siglo XX. Por lo tanto, no hay nada más natural que durante los últimos 35 años de su vida trabajara en este libro fragmentario, aquel que está elaborado con la conciencia de convertirse en una referencia obligada para entender los primeros 75 años del siglo.
Mexican readers know that the texts of Carlos Monsivais have been, for the last 50 years, the necessary reference to know, appreciate and evaluate the most relevant events of Mexican culture in the 20th century.
