Bien se podría definir así el paso y, sobre todo, el inicio de la trayectoria de los Rodrigues, en relación al significado mayor de su obra: la brasilidad. El libro Dossiê Rodrigues – una genealogia (1900-34), muestra el camino que siguió para que surgiera lo que conoceremos como “Rodriguiano”. Me molestaba el hecho tan alardeado de que Nelson Rodrigues hubiera pasado por delante de un teatro, visto la cola y decidido escribir uno de los textos más grandes del teatro mundial, “Vestido de Noiva”. La protagonista principal de este texto es Alaíde. En uno de sus discursos dice alto y claro: “Soy una mujer sin memoria”. Si se quiere, podemos entender este discurso como dirigido a la inexistencia de un teatro con esencia brasileña, que tuviera un lenguaje genuino. Hasta entonces éramos simpatizantes del teatro de revista. De gran influencia francesa, nuestro “teatro” estaba formado básicamente por compañías de Teatro de Revista.
One could well define the passage and, above all, the beginning of the Rodrigues' trajectory in this way, with regard to the greater meaning of their work: Brazilianness. The book Dossiê Rodrigues – a genealogia (1900-34), shows the path it took for what we will know as “Rodriguiano” to emerge. I was bothered by the vaunted fact that Nelson Rodrigues had passed in front of a theater, seen the queue, and decided to write one of the greatest texts in world theater, “Vestido de Noiva”. The main character of this text is Alaíde. In one of her speeches, she says loud and clear: “I am a woman without memory”. If you want, we can understand this speech as being directed at the non-existence of a theater with a Brazilian essence, and which had a genuine language. Until then, we were revue theater fans. With great French influence, our “theatre” was basically made up of Revue Theater companies.
